Stay safe and on time this Easter holiday with a free tyre check from Fife Autocentre
The Easter holidays are upon us and 15 million motorists will take to the roads during the holiday period. However, many of them forget to check their tyres before they set off, leaving themselves vulnerable to an unwanted break in their journey – or worse.
To help them stay safe, and avoid unnecessary delays, Fife Autocentre, supporter of the national tyre safety organisation TyreSafe, is offering a free check to drivers to help ensure their tyres are ready for whatever the bank holiday roads can throw at them.
Brian Meechan Managing Director, Fife Autocentre, said: “All too often drivers forget just how important tyres are for the safety of those in their vehicle and others around them. They’re the only part of the vehicle in touch with the road and poor tyres means it’ll take longer to stop, you’re more likely to aquaplane in the wet and you’ll have less control around corners. That’s especially true when you have a full load of passengers and luggage.
“We regularly see examples of tyres which were worn out weeks before the vehicle owner brought them to us for replacement. Not only are they dangerous, they’re also illegal.
“Fife Autocentre is committed to making Fife’s road users as safe as possible and have been actively working with TyreSafe to help spread the tyres safety message and change motorist’s attitude to tyre safety. We encourage anyone in Fife, Tayside, Hillfoots and Stirling to visit us for a no obligation, free tyre inspection to help keep them safe this Easter holiday.”
Tyre-related incidents are all too common on Britain’s roads and cause over 1100 casualties every year with nearly of 200 those leading to death or serious injury. In a survey conducted in partnership with Highways England, TyreSafe revealed nearly 10 million vehicles on Britain’s road could have been driven with an illegal and dangerous tyre in 2015. Not only are motorists risking their own safety, they could also face a fine of up to £2500 and receive three penalty points for each defective tyre if they’re stopped by the police.
There are three simple checks which Fife Autocentre, Hillfoots Autocentre, Stirling Autocentre and Tayside Autocentre will carry out for them with no charge or obligation:
